I’m an independent journalist based in Austin. I spent a decade working in higher education, first at a university press and then in undergraduate admission. For the past 15 years I’ve been writing regularly for college alumni magazines, Texas Monthly, the Texas Observer and Texas Highways. I’ve also had pieces in The New York Times, Washington Post, Runner’s World, Stranger’s Guide and O, the Oprah Magazine. I report thoroughly and turn in clean, accurate copy. I especially enjoy diving into subcultures, interviewing college students and describing different types of silence.
